Over the past two decades, Java Shack has become Arlington's community coffee house.  We are a cozy nook for neighbors to meet for outstanding, locally-roasted coffee "where everybody knows your name."  "I think there is a surge of people wanting to go back and feel at home with coffee," long-time Java Shack "Godfather" Dale Roberts told a reporter from The Washington Post in July 2008.

We pride ourselves on our friendly staff and neighborhood tradition as the "Cheers Coffee House" of Arlington, as we were dubbed by a local newspaper back in 1997.  Our baristas take the time to get to know customers' names and their drinks of choice, and have made "the Shack" into a beacon for friends, residents, and even out-of-towners.  Whether folks want peace and quiet, or warm conversation, Java Shack is an oasis in an increasingly busy metropolis.

Because we are so committed to our roots as a community coffee house, we frequently aid local causes and assist Arlingtonians in need any we can.  We are especially proud to support the following organizations:

•  Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA)
•  Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE)
•  Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS)
•  Key School
•  Lyon Village Citizens’ Association
•  Clarendon Alliance
•  Potomac Overlook Regional Park
•  Arlington Arts Center (AAC)
•  Squaddra Coppi Cycling Team
